As we getting higher, we enjoy the stunning views of the Aegean Sea, the turkish coastline, Halki island and some of the nearby ones.
Once we arrive at the top, and before approaching the two famous hotels there called “Elafos” and “Elafina”you get to enjoy the calm of the pine forest and of a quiet picnic area. These buildings were built in Alpine Style by the Italians. We will also visit the mysterious“Villa de Vecci”, house of the former Italian Governor and of course, the Byzantine church of Profitis Elias. After a short stop and a quick snack, we begin the descent back to the village of Salakos.
Mt Akramitis Hiking Tour runs every Friday and starts from the beautiful village of Monolithos. Our goal on this Rhodes Hiking Tour is to conquer the summit of Akramitis mountain, the second highest in Rhodes!
The hike gradually ascends on green slopes and soon becomes more demanding as we start to clamber over the rocks that make up our path. Wherever you look there are impressive photo opportunities. This meadow like area leads us to our first stop of the day, the tiny chapel of St John, where we have a snack enjoying one of the pies Greece is known for!
Just before we arrive, we find ourselves scrambling over rocks for a short time. From the top of Akramitis, you can have a 360 panoramic view. Inland Rhodes, its nearby islands, the artificial lake of Apollakia and Attaviros mountain.
